The head of the Mahabad Department of Environmental Protection said: “During the bird census and monitoring of wetlands, the experts of this department observed otter in Kani Barazan wetland and Yusefkand dam lake in Mahabad
“This mammal is nutritionally dependent on many fish and animals,” said Farooq Sakhnour, head of the Mahabad Department of Environmental Protection, according to the Environment Service
He said: “Observing this valuable species can be considered as an important indicator of the ecosystem of Kani Barazan wetland
He added: “The results of the studies of the experts of the department indicate that the ecosystem of Kani Barazan wetland still has the necessary potential as a habitat and wildlife sanctuary
Sheng or otter belongs to the mink family and lives around rivers, streams, irrigation canals, lakes and wetlands with suitable vegetation
It has a long and relatively slender body, long tail and flat head, short snout and brown color, and its body length is up to 75 cm and its tail length is up to 50 cm
رئیس اداره حفاظت محیط زیست مهاباد گفت:در جریان انجام برنامه سرشماری پرندگان و پایش تالابها ، کارشناسان این اداره در تالاب کانی برازان و دریاچه سد یوسفکند مهاباد،سمور آبی را مشاهده نمودند.
به گزارش سرویس محیط زیست ،سایت خبری بالویز”فاروق سخنور” رئیس اداره حفاظت محیط زیست مهاباد گفت:این پستاندار از نظر تغذیه ای وابسته به ماهی ها و جانوران متعددی می باشد.
وی گفت:مشاهده این گونه با ارزش را می توان به عنوان یک شاخص مهم اکوسیستم تالاب کانی برازان محسوب نمود.
وی افزود:نتایج بررسی های کارشناسان اداره حاکی از این است که اکوسیستم تالاب کانی برازان همچنان پتانسیل لازم را به عنوان زیستگاه و پناهگاه حیات وحش دارد.
شنگ یا سمور آبی از خانواده راسوها بوده و در اطراف رودخانه ها، نهرها، کانالهای آبیاری، دریاچه ها و تالابها با پوشش گیاهی مناسب زیست می کند.
دارای بدنی دراز و نسبتا باریک و دم بلند و سر مسطح، پوزه کوتاه و رنگ قهوه ای است و طول بدن آن تا ۷۵سانتی متر و طول دم آن تا ۵۰سانتی متر می رسد.
